Whats new and happening this summer ?
As we have not got many shows and we are in need of a fresh start we are writing loads of new songs and we intend to have a completely new repertoire (hopefully about 2 hours music) for the autumn. We are spending more time on the song writing and going more in to depth than before.
André will be going back to French Guyana for a month in August, so we trying to get as much done before then. I have a day job this summer for the first time ever (I hoped I never would) so that is another thing that's making life different for us. And Jeremy and I are moving out of our house-share in Toulouse. I'm going to be staying with friends in Toulouse until September and don't know after that... If you live in the Toulouse area, you have a big sofa in your place and are feeling generous you can always drop me a line !! haha just kiding I am sorted normaly...
While I'm onto random stuff, let me share this photo of my drunk bother opening a beer in the kitchen of what will soon no longer be our house :

Now I've done that I can,get back to speaking about writing music. We find that working all 4 of us simultaneously on a song is not the best way to go about it (That's the way we put our last song together) so for the next little while we are working in pairs.
First André and I work on the harmony and melody while I put together the lyrics, then we record all the parts and put together a song structure and we give the recordings to Jeremy and Théo. At which point they write the bass lines and drum parts and also come up with suggestions with regards to arrangement.
This means that we have all spent a good number of hours on a song before individually or in pairs before the final put-together occurs. The idea behind this strategy is that when we do get round to doing it, it goes faster (as everyone knows there part and is familiar with the structure, the mood etc of the song) and is much more satisfying.
So far we have 3 songs that are almost finished and you will hear at our shows in the autumn : “You know better”, “Give it a shot” and “Great heights”, and another 5 or 6 that are getting there !
We'll see you on Friday for our last gig in Toulouse this summer (as far as we're organized so far). It's at the Connexion Café, 8 rue Gabriel Perri. We'll be playing at 9ish.
